Notes for Martha Allen
---Obituary--- (no date)
Martha A. Taggart, wife of Joseph Taggart, was born in Jackson Co., Indiana, June 22, 1832 and departed this life May 18, 1895. She was married to Joseph Taggart 44 years ago. To this union were born 11 children, two boys of which died in Indiana. They moved to MO in the fall of 1879 and lived near Blue Ridge until the spring of 1893. They sold their farm in MO and moved near the Lyon Valley church in Oklahoma and lived there until the opening of the Cherokee strip when they secured a desirable quarter se of sec. 35 21 6 which she lived to see well improved. While in MO she embraced the religion of the Blessed Savior and was baptized into the Christian Union church at Blue Ridge, where she has always kept her membership. Although the hand of affliction has been with her for many years, she never lost sight of the blessed promise. She lived the life of the righteous and died the death of the faithful. She was a loving and devoted companion and a kind and sympathetic mother. She was the same to the stranger as to the acquiaintance. No person ever went from her door hungry. The following children were present who survive her and who each have a home of their own and are located where she died: James A., John G., Mary J., William H., Sarah I., T. Edward, George N., Margaret A., and F.K. All have families except the last named. Quite a concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place in the Lion Valley cemetery where they will remain until the trumpet shall sound when they that are in their graves will rise and put on the new life.

The funeral ceremonies were conducted by Rev. J.B. Rodgers at the home of the deceased.
