Research notes for Samuel Bothwell
Samuel lived next door to George Bothwell. Both about same age, both born in PA. Presumed to be brothers.
In 1840 census, there were two additional persons enumeratefd that do not fit the currently known list of his children, one male and one female, both between the ages of 15 and 20.

Notes for Robert Bonner (Child 2)
Robert B. Bothwell enlisted in the Union Army from Duncannon, PA, as a private on 4 June 1861 for three years serrvice in Co. B, Perry Co., PA., of the 42nd Pensylvania Volunteers/1st Pennsylvania Rifles., know as the Bucktails or the Kane Rifle Rgt of the 13th Rgt., Pensylvania Reserve Infantry. Promoted from private to sergeant 20 Nov 1863, wounded 12 May 1864. Absent (sick) when the unit was musterd out.
On Jan. 4, 1862 he was recommended for an award after volunteering to tear down pale fences. He was with Co. B at that time. This for the engagement at Drainesville.
The Perry County company was recruited at Duncannon under Capt. Langhorn Wistar.
News item 8/4/1901 said his son, ellicott fisher bothwell, was drpwned 9/2/1901 at Sunsbury. Report not confirmed. In Phila Inquirer, name was given as ellicutt bothwell, suffered cramps while swimming & drowned.
