Sarah Belle Parnell, wife of E. R. Parnell, and daughter of Joseph and Martha Taggart, was born near Martinsville, Indiana, August 18, 1864; departed this life at Waukomis, Oklahoma, September 18, 1933; aged 69 years and one month.

Moved with her family from Indiana in 1879 and settled in Harrison Co., MO. Was united in marriage to E. R. Parnell, October 28, 1888. To this union was born one daughter, Naoma, who died in infancy.

In the spring of 1893 she and her husband moved to Oklahoma, and at the opening of the Cherokee Strip, settled on a claim 10 miles southeast of Waukomis, and with the exception of a short stay in Oregon, had resided in the Pleasant Valley community and in Waukomis since the opening in 1893 until her death.

In her early womanhood she was converted and became a member of the Christian church. After settling in Oklahoma, she united with the Christian Union church at Pleasant valley, where her membership has since remained.

She was a devoted student of His word and an efficient teacher of the scriptures and one who earnestly studied them that her life might meet the approval of her Creator, and that she might be able to lead others in the way.

Proceeding her in death are her father, Joseph Taggart; her mother, Martha Allen Taggart; an infant brother, and brothers Joseph W. Taggart, John G. Taggart, James A. Taggart, John G. Taggart, and one sister, Mary Jane Bourne.

Surviving her are her husband, E. R. Parnell, of the home; one sister, Mrs. J. E. Joseph of Waukomis; and three brothers; T. E. Taggart of Marshall; G. N. Taggart of Hillsboro, Oregon, and F. K. Taggart of Enid, and a large number of neices, nephews and cousins, and hosts of friends.
