Esther Klindt was born July 4, 1895 in Harrison County. The daughter of William and Mary (Nighthart) Taggart. She accepted Christ as a girl and became a member of the Christian Union Church in Blue Ridge, later transferring her membership to the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.
Esther was united in marriage August 25, 1915 to Charles D. Klindt at the Parsonage in Blue Ridge.To this union (7) children were born, 5 sons, 2 daughters, Marjorie Hatten of Bethany, Mary Mason of Pattonsburg, Lyle, Chester, Bethany, Kenneth, Knoxville, Tennessee, Bill, Maryville, and John of Jefferson City.
Esther lived her whole life in Harrison County. She is preceded in death by her her husband, Charles, 3 brothers, Vilas, Garland and John and an infant sister. Also one grandson, Ron and 3 infant grandchildren
Her career was motherhood and homemaking. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking and being a full time mother and grandmother.
She is survived 7 children and their husbands and wives and 28 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Esther was a dedicated Christian and attended her church every Sunday when at all possible. She lived her life for her family and her Christian beliefs. Having a quiet sense of humor, she was able to see the lighter slide of living even when life exhibited a more serious turn. Throughout her live she enjoyed having Christmas and other special dinners in her home even though in the latter years there were more than 100 in the family.
In addition to gardening and flowers, her most beloved hobby was free hand machine quilting. This hobby was shared with a multitude of people within and outside her home community.
Esther will be sadly missed not only by her loving family but by the many many friends who knew and loved her.
