--OBITUARY--
Dee Taggart, 88, Hennessey, died Sun., Dec. 15, 1996 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid.
His funeral is today (Thurs., Dec. 19, 1996) at 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church of Hennessey. Rev. Deane Stein will officiate.
Burial will be at Lyon Valley Cemetery directed by Cordry-Sisson Funeral Home of Hennessey.
Dee was born August 7, 1908, on a farm east of Hennessey to Andy and Mattie Snyder Taggart.
He graduated from Hennessey High School in 1925, and earned a BS degree in education from Central State University, Edmond.
Dee taught school in Ringwood, Drummond and Omega for 14 years. He was also a custom harvester for 25 years and also farmed most of his life.
He and Kathryn Rikli were married May 15, 1932, in Drummond. They were married for 59 years. She died August 23, 1991.
Dee was a member of the First Christian Church in Hennessey and a Sunday School teacher for an adult class for 14 years.
He was named Senior Citizen of the Month in 1991 by the Hennessey FHA.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Taggart and his wife, Faye, of Hennessey and Terry Taggart and his wife, Diane, of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Carolyn Deaton of Woodward; one brother, Ivan Taggart and his wife Frances of Hennessey and one sister, Arlene Poteet of Hennessey.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren: John and Nancy Harnsberger, Joyce and Randy Holder, Eddie and Gayla Taggart, all of Hennessey; Tony Deaton of Longdale; Dana and Ron DeCrow of Edmond; Phillip and Michelle Taggart of Norman; David Taggart and Rebecca Taggart, both of Albuquerque, and four great-grandchildren, Chase and Skyler Holder, and Mauricia and Zane Taggart, all of Hennessey.
In addition to his wife, Kathryn, he was preceded in death of one daughter, Elaine.
Memorials may be made to the Lyon Valley Cemetery.
