1850 census of lawrence twp: Lawrence Goodfellow age;9 sex;m
Debbie Miller says Gideon born 1825 in Lawrence TWP. There is an obituary (Dates only) in a newspaper that was published from Dec., 1881, to September, 1883 in Clearfield Co., PA. "Gideon Goodfellow, of Clearfield, died 1 Aug., aged 61 years, 7 months, 9 days. This from" The County Review." No year is given but the only two years that it could be are 1882 and 1883. I have calculated 1883 from his age at death and from the various census records he appears on and am as confident as one can be under the circumstances.
Notes for Milton J. (Child 4)
In "Dr. Goodfellow", Chaput says on page 108 that ", as soon as Dr. Goodfellow was well established in Tucson he invited his widowed mother, Amanda Goodfellow, to spend the rest of the winter with him and she arrived in late February of 1892. Her Cousin, Robert Baskin, was Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah, and chief justice of the Utah State Supreme Court. He and his family had started to go west but when they got to the SLC area, particularly around the mines at Park City, Utah, in the mountains East of town, he decided to stay. He had a colorful career as a lawyer, and prosecuted many famous Mormons for poligamy. He later became popular with the Mormons because of his promotion of water and sewage projects that made the town a much healthier place to live.
On page 127 Chaput says;" His[Dr. George;] father had died in Oakland in the early 1890's, his mother a few years later. She appears, living in Oakland on the 1900 Census, with her daughter Bessie and Georges daughter, Grace. Oakland, Alameda Co., California probate records Index F-K 1880 thru 1910 LDS#1376491 show his estate records 1663 , register 4, page 384, M.J. Goodfellow, commenced 13 October, 1887.
On page 13 Chaput says that Milton was in Yavapai, Arizona, near Prescott, in 1876. He was working as a mining executive. In the 1880 Federal Census he was living in Fresno, California, working as Superintendent of a Local mine.
The society of California Pioneers records say that Milton J. Goodfellow arrived in California 27 July, 1849.
The California Pioneer Projects index shows:
Goodfellow, Ann Amanda Baskin, Vol. 1 page 409.
Goodfellow, George E., Vol 1 page 410
Goodfellow, Milton J., Vol 1 page 406
For a number of years Ann Amanda lived at 1353 Webster St., Oakland, Alameda, California. She, her daughter Bessie, and ........... were living there at the time of the 1900 Census.
