"Dr. Goodfellow" reports a second marriage for Dr. George. George Parsons, who's diary includes a great deal of information on what must have been a friendship of many decades, says on 14 March, 1906, that he was invited to a party honoring Mrs. George Goodfellow," who I had never seen"; the party was at the Los Angeles home of Dr. George's sister Mary Catherine and her husband Charles W. Fish. Chaput beleives the marriage was in late 1905 or early 1906 and the record was among those destroyed in the great fire after the San Francisco earthquake. See page 145 and 146 of " Dr. Goodfellow".
This part of the book also reports that Dr. Goodfellow was a member of the Bohemian Club, the Claremont Country Club in Oakland, the California Club of Los Angeles, the University Club of San Francisco etc. Chaput speculates that this new wife, Mary Elizabeth, was someone he met at the high social circle he was moving in at that time.
Page 167 of "Dr. Goodfellow" mentions that we don't know what happened to Dr. Goodfellow's widow, Mary Elizabeth. The 1920 census lists a Mary E. Goodfellow, widow, living on Hoover St. in L.A. but she isn't listed in City Directories or the death index. Maybe remarried.
