Notes for Thomas Miles Goodfellow
His military records say that he was born in Mifflin Co., Pa. which makes sense since that's where I have seen his parets living. This same record says that he was 42 years old on 21 Jan.. 1866, making him born in the year 1823. In a letter to Erwin W. Fellows in 1988 from Jane Crichton (a great grand daughter of Thomas Miles Goodfellow and Ellen Grahame), Jane gives his birthday as 26 May, 1823. This is the correct date, I believe.
Thomas Miles Goodfellow was " authorized to exercise his gifts as a Local Preacher in the Methodist E. Church so long as his spirit @ practice acord with the Word of God, etc), by the quarterly meeting conference of the Bellefonte Circuit, (Pa), 20 Nov., 1847, and renewed 28 Oct., 1848. On 7 March, 1852, he was ordained a deacon of the M.E. Church at Cumberland, Maryland, Baltimore Annual Conference. On 5 March, 1854, he was set apart as an Elder by the Annual Conference at Baltimore City, Maryland.
