Dear Helen,
Unfortunately, the hospital chain that I work for is not advertising for translators. I think that they often times rely upon employees already working there in other positions to translate for them because I hear them paging for any employee who can speak spanish to help with a patient or visitor. I checked the other two big hospitals here in Salt Lake and they are not advertising for interpretors either. But let me give you their names and you can check and see if there might be something else you would like to do. I work for a group of hospitals run by Intermountain Health Care. Their website is www.ihc.com <http://www.ihc.com>;. The hospital that I work at is called Cottonwood Hospital There is also St. Mark's Hospital run by Columbia Health Care. Their website is www.stmarkshospital.com <http://www.stmarkshospital.com>;. Then there is the University of Utah Hospital. Their website is <http://www.uuhsc.utah.edu/uuhsc/comclinics/hu_esp.htm>;. I know the hospital I work in has admitting clerk jobs that I would assume would benefit from having someone who speaks spanish, so that might be something you would want to consider also. All of these websites allow you to apply online. I also checked the online version of one of our newspapers to see if they had any interpretor jobs. The only thing I could find is a bank teller position. I copied it for you to see:
BANKING >! > TransWest Credit Union is seeking an experienced full time teller. Excellent customer service and communications skills required. Spanish speaking preferred. Please apply in person to: 37 West 1700 So. S.L.C., UT, Or fax resume to: 484-2667 EOE
No, I am not a nurse. I work in a department called Central Processing. We clean, assemble and sterilize instrumentation for the operating room and set up the case carts with all the supplies for each surgery. I am the education and quality assurance person.
I will check into the requirements to stay and work and let you know.
I hope that we get a chance to meet you and get to know you better.
Love,
Janna

Dear Helen,
We were out today with my oldest son and his wife seeing "Lord of the Rings". I think it is a great movie.
We are thrilled that you are coming to the States and hope you can stay with us. Even if you go to Ohio or California we will come see you this summer, The main thing is to get out of Argentina before it is forbidden by some communist takeover government or whatever is coming since they have proven unable to make a democracy work. Do you have property that you will have to sell before you go? Don't worry too much about it; you can always replace property.
We are all well here. Two of my older daughters took my little grandchildren and my son James downtown to see the Olympic hoopla today and he will stay overnight with them until tommow at my son's house in a town called Layton about 20 miles from here. We miss little James but he has so much fun there it's hard not to let him go. These grandchildren, a boy of 6 and a girl of 8, are the children of my son Enoch who is divorced and working in Texas right now.
James would love to get a valentine from you and he will know exactly who you are because you and your family are going to be part of our "family home evening" this week. This FHE is a program of the Mormon Church in which the whole family gets together, usually on Monday night for an hour or so and has appropriate family building activities. One of the things we do is to talk about our family history and this week I'm going to explain to them about your Grandparents lives, ministry, and remarkable family of children and explain just who you are and where you live, etc. He already knows that we hope that you come to see us and that you live in Argentina, though he isn't too sure where Argentina is yet.
In all seriousness I hope that you will put your worries aside and come to the U.S. as soon as is wise. I know that more than just our family will be thrilled that you are here and before you know it you will feel at home.
Have no fears!
Love ,
Mark and families

How are you Mark Jr.?
Today I tried to phone you and there was no reply. I also phoned Phil and there was a recorded message.
It seems I am going to the States after all. It's a long story.
I am quite frightened by the political situation. I hope I am wrong but people are leaving the country by the thousands. If I cannot make it there I will go to Europe but that would be a choice I don't like.
Are you alright? I thought of sending a Valentine card to your youngest son from auntie Helen but then thought he doesn't know me and would not quite get it.
How is the rest of the family?
Answer soon.
Take care,
Helen
