Andrew served in the 45th Pennsylvania Reg., Co A, and was wounded at the battle of Cold Harbour 3 June, 1864, less than one montha after his brother E.R. had been killed at the battle of the Wilderness. He was promoted to Sargent 1December,1864, and was mustered out of the Army 17 July, 1865. He married and had a family and named his first son E. R. Goodfellow.
The 1880 Census lists his occupation as forgeman. The area had a lot of steel mills and iron works.
