JOHN TAGGART, RETIRED FARMER, GROCER, DIES HERE
John A. Taggart of 1019 East Morgan Street, retired farmer and grocery man, died Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the Morgan County Memorial Hospital. Hospitalized since Nov 15, his death occurred the day following his seventy-first birthday. He had been in failing health for the past month.
Mr. Taggart was born in Morgan County Nov. 27, 1886, the son of Albert and Mahala Hart Taggart. On Ap. 17, 1907, he was married to Josie M. Hinson, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Taggart had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last spring with open house arranged by nieces.
For a number of years Mr. Taggart farmed in Knox and Greene Counties. Returning to Morgan County in 1918, he continued farming for some time south of Martinsville.
Later he was employed by the J. D. Adams Company in Indianapolis, from which he was retired. For about ten years, until approximately two and one-half years ago, Mr. and Mrs Taggart operated a grocery next door to their home. Until his illness, Mr. Taggart most recently had been employed at the East Side Food Locker here.
He was a member of the Local First Christian Church and of I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Beside the wife, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Jessie Goldenschue of Martinsville, and several nieces and nephews. An only daughter, Victoria, died in 1930. Four sisters also are deceased.
The Rev. Fred Sharp will conduct his funeral services Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Christian Church. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Cure and Hensley Funeral Home after 7:30 this evening. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour preceding the funeral rites.

MISS VICTORIA TAGGART DEAD
PASSED AWAY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AFTER AN ILLNESS OF NINE WEEKS.
Miss Victoria Taggart, 22 years of age, daughter of Mr. and Mrs John Taggart, residing southeast of the city, died Sunday morning at 6 o'clock in the New Highland sanitarium.
Miss Taggart had been ill for the past nine weeks and last Tuesday underwent an operation.
She is survived by her parents.
Miss Taggart was a graduate of the Martinsville high school, graduating with the class of 1925.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Christian church. Ray I. Montgomery, of Vincennes, will conduct the services, assisted by the Rev. Guy V. Hartman.
The burial will be in South Park cemetery.
